The Saskatoon Blades have solved their crowded 20 year old situation by trading forward Darian Dziurzynski to the Brandon Wheat Kings.

In return the Saskatoon Blades received a trio of draft picks from Brandon in the form of a 2nd round bantam pick in 2012, a 2nd round bantam pick in 2013, and a 3rd round bantam pick in 2014.

“It was a situation where we had four 20 year olds and one of them had to be moved,” said Saskatoon Blades General Manager and Head Coach Lorne Molleken.

“The Memorial Cup announcement obviously played a huge part in this decision.  With us getting that event, we suddenly had a number of teams showing interest in Darian”, added Molleken.

“These draft picks will turn into players for us somewhere down the line and they will be players that will be necessary in order for us to be competitive next season.”

“Darian has been a tremendous player for us since we listed him as a 16 year old player.  We really wish him all the best in Brandon”, said Molleken.

Dziurzynski, a prospect of the Phoenix Coyotes, appeared in 243 regular season games with the Blades collecting 65 goals and 53 assists to go along with 399 PIM's.

Dziurzynski appeared in 4 games for the Blades this season, collecting 3 goals including 2 game winning goals.
