The Saskatoon Blades got an early jump on the Moose Jaw Warriors on Friday night and held on to win their 3rd game in a row by a score of 6-2.

The Blades scored three times in the first 11:25 of the game, with all three tallies coming off of rebound plays.  At 6:31 of the game, a Kyle Schmidt point shot deflected right onto the stick of Jesse Paradis.  The 20 year old former Warrior buried the rebound from a tough angle to make it 1-0 Saskatoon.

The Blades second goal came off the stick of Brent Benson as he scored his 8th of the season at 10:32, banging the puck by Luke Siemens and into the Moose Jaw cage.  Saskatoon's lead was extended to three not even a minute later as Dalton Thrower pinched into the play and chipped a rebound chance over Siemens to make it 3-0.

The Warriors were down 3-0, despite having two powerplay chances in the first 8 minutes of the game.

Moose Jaw had a strong finish to the first period but failed to have that translate to the second as Thrower got his second of the game only 1:42 into the period.   Jake Trask kept that trend alive as the Blades made it 5-0 at 7:21 as the 20 year old fired a long shot by Siemens.  The goal chased the Warriors goalie as Spencer Tremblay entered the cage.

At the 13:00 minute mark of the second period, the Warriors finally put a stop to the goal barrage by the Blades.  Quinton Howden was able to get his 17th of the season by Andrey Makarov on the powerplay as the game was 5-1.  The Warriors continued their theme of strong endings to periods as Eric Arnold found a puck in the slot at 16:31 and beat Makarov, making it 5-2.

Once again the Blades had the answer to the Warrior pressure as Michael Burns tipped in a Duncan Siemens shot 2:24 into the third period to put the Blades back up by four goals, with the score being 6-2.

That was the final as the Warriors inability to count on the powerplay was part of their downfall.  The Blades were strong on the PK, killing off 6 of the 7 powerplays against them.  Saskatoon went 1 for 3 with the man advantage.

Dalton Thrower was named the first star of the game as the 18 year old defenceman potted 2 goals in his return from the CHL Top Prospects game.  Jake Trask's 3 point night earned him second star, while Andrey Makarov was the third star after a 35 save performance.

The Blades now look to carry the momentum into their game tomorrow night as the Medicine Hat Tigers are in town to battle the Blades.
