jack@saskatoonblades.comJack was born on December 18th, 1952, in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Nathan and Marie Brodsky, the youngest of three boys. The family operated a construction business in Manitoba until the summer of 1965 before moving the business to Saskatoon. In 1976, Jack's father Nate bought the Saskatoon Blades Hockey Club, which the family owns and operates to this day. In 1996 the family closed down their construction business and now solely concentrates on the hockey business. Jack and his wife Shirley have three children, John, David and Heather and live in Saskatoon.
Jack enjoys being involved in the community and currently serves on the board of Prairieland Park. He is a Past-President of the Greater Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce and continues to serve on the Chamber's Government Affairs Committee. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Saskatoon.
Jack is very involved in WHL affairs as well, serving on the Western Hockey League Executive Committee Finance Committee. He is a big booster of the WHL Education Program and is very proud to chair the Western Hockey League Education Committee, a role he has held since the inception of the committee.
Jack was awarded Canada's Commemorative Medal for the Queen's Golden Jubilee in 2003. This honour recognized his personal achievements on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II as Queen of Canada. A a part of Saskatoon's celebration of its centennial, he was recognized in a group of 100 people who help make Saskatoon a better place, in the 100 People, 100 Reasons program.
Under Jack's direction, community involvement continues to be a major focus of the club as far as off ice activities go; the Blades were the 2006 recipient of the SABEX Award for Community Involvement. "While winning on the ice is always our primary goal, we want our players and staff to understand the importance of being out in the community. We have such a great opportunity to make a difference in our city. We also see the community work as a great development opportunity for our players"
