Blades Blasted by Potent Hitmen Power Play

The Saskatoon Blades surrendered six power play goals en route to a 6-1 loss to the Calgary Hitmen on Sunday afternoon.
Sena Acolatse (Calgary, AB) scored the lone goal for the Blades, who have now lost three out of their last four games.
Saskatoon – 1st – Acolatse (Walker Wintoneak, Gaelan Patterson) 2:21 pp
Acolatse gave the Blades the early lead with a power play marker a little more than two minutes into the game The 19-year-old took a cross-ice feed from Wintoneak (Flin Flon, MB) and beat goaltender Martin Jones for his 16th of the season.
Calgary – 1st – Tyler Shattock (Giffen Nyren, Zak Stebner) 4:43 pp
The Hitmen tied things up at one a little over two minutes later on Shattock’s 29th of the year. The 19-year-old tipped in a Nyren point shot from in front of the net.
Calgary – 1st – Brandon Kozun (Shattock, Kris Foucault) 11:10 pp
Kozun gave the home squad the lead with a little less than nine minutes remaining on his 31st on the campaign. Again the Hitmen forward got a piece of a point shot in front that thwarted goaltender Adam Morrison (White Rock, BC)
Calgary – 1st – Michael Stone (Misha Fisenko) 12:01 pp
The Hitmen went up by two on the first of two on the afternoon from the defenseman Stone. The 19-year-old let go a hard slap shot that beat Morrison just inside the post blocker side.
Calgary – 2nd – Joel Broda (Stone, Kozun) 3:17 pp
Broda made it 4-1 early in the middle frame with his first of two goals in the game. The product of Prince Albert fired a wrist shot from the faceoff circle over the right shoulder of the goaltender.
Calgary – 2nd – Stone (Fisenko, Matt MacKenzie) 4:57 pp
Stone picked up his second goal of the game and 18th of the season to make it 5-1. Fisenko sent a cross-ice feed to Stone for a one-timer to the left of Morrison.
Calgary – 3rd – Broda (Kozun, Fisenko) :37 pp
Broda closed out the scoring with his second of the game and 37th of the year. Kozun sent a pass through traffic to Broda at the back door and it was 6-1.
Morrison got the start and made 15 saves on 20 shots to take the loss for the Blades. Steven Stanford (Calgary, AB) came into the game in relief and made 12 saves on 13 shots. At the other end of the ice, Jones turned aside 27 of 28 shots to claim the win in the Calgary goal.
Final score Calgary Hitmen 6, Saskatoon Blades 1.
The Blades fall to 44-17-3-4 for 95 points and continue to sit in third place in the WHL’s Eastern Conference. The Hitmen see their season mark improve to 48-17-1-2 for 99 points and put a cushion on their lead atop the Eastern Conference.
