The Saskatoon Blades ended a three-game winless streak on Wednesday evening with a 4-3 overtime victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors at home.
Saskatoon – 1st – Dziurzynski (Gaelan Patterson, Walker Wintoneak) 4:19
Patterson (Saskatoon, SK) fought past a defender coming into the Warriors zone and put a shot on goaltender Jeff Bosch that was stopped. Dziurzynski jumped on the rebound and hammered home his 8th of the year and it was 1-0.
Saskatoon – 1st – Niemi (Wintoneak, Patterson) 6:27
Niemi made it 3-0 with his 6th marker on the campaign for the Blades. After Patterson won the faceoff, Wintoneak (Flin Flon, MB) left a drop pass for the 19-year-old Finnwho let a wrist go that found its way to the back of the net.
Moose Jaw – 3rd – Dylan Hood (Chad Suer)12:30
Hood brought the Tribe within one midway through the third period. After Suer’s shot was stopped by Blades goaltender Adam Morrison (White Rock, BC) from the point, Hood hopped on the rebound for his 7th.
Saskatoon – OT – Viedensky :29
Viedensky picked up the game winner with his 7th of the season and 3rd in a Blades uniform. The Slovak forward attempted a wraparound on his forehand that was denied early in overtime. However, the 19-year-old kept an eye on the puck in the crease and jammed it in to give the Blades the win.
Morrison made 26 saves in the Blades net to earn the victory. At the Moose Jaw end, Bosch began the game and surrendered 3 goals on 5 shots. Brandon Glover came on and made 34 saves on 35 shots to take the overtime loss.
The Blades return to the ice this weekend with a home-and-home series against the Swift Current Broncos beginning Friday at Credit Union Centre.
