1st Round - Siemens and Benson

The Saskatoon Blades, with the 3^rd overall pick that they acquired from the Prince George Cougars in the 2006/07 Devin Setoguchi trade, have selected defenseman Duncan Siemens. Meanwhile, with their own 6^th overall pick, they have selected center Brent Benson.

Siemens, a 6’3”, 190 pound product of Sherwood Park, AB, was born on September 7th, 1993.

“Duncan is a big, punishing defenseman who can really skate,” commented Blades Assistant General Manager Jarrod Brodsky. “He has good puck skills and we obviously felt that he was the best defenseman available in this years draft."

Benson, a 5’11”, 171 pound forward from Weyburn, SK, was born on April 13^th, 1993.

“Brent is a kid who we’ve watched closely all season and we feel is a powerful skater who plays with an edge,” said Brodsky. “He has a really good skill set and played extremely well at the prestigious Mac’s Tournament in Calgary, AB with the Moose Jaw AAA Warriors.”
