Blades in the Community
All Saskatoon Blades player appearance are tentative and subject to change. We do our best to be leaders in the community for volunteer services. The Saskatoon Blades are proud to have completed their 2007/08 public relations schedule that saw them build off of the team’s strong reputation in the city of Saskatoon and province of Saskatchewan as a leader in community involvement.
Throughout the course of the season, Blades players, coaches, and staff took part in over 350 player appearances including the following programs:
· SIGA White Buffalo Youth Lodge Mentorship
· TD Canada Trust Scoring for Schools
· RCMP Project Faceoff
· Subway Safety Patroller
· CIBC Read to Succeed
· Burger King Bully Prevention
· Assante Wealth Management Teacher Recognition
· And numerous other onetime events
By utilizing all of the above mentioned programs, Blades players spent over 710 hours in the city of Saskatoon and immediate surrounding areas including towns such as Warman, Martinsville, Clavet, and others.
Ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 8 students, players interacted with thousands of students while making stops at nearly 50 public and catholic elementary and middle schools.
In addition to attending schools, the organization spent time helping with minor hockey practices, visiting over 10 rinks and more than 40 Initiation and Novice level hockey practices. The hockey club also welcomed dozens of other teams to take part in the Tim Horton’s Tim Bit’s promotion at all 36 home games throughout the season.
The Saskatoon Blades Hockey Club would like to thank all schools, minor hockey teams, and other organizations that they were able to visit throughout the 2007/08 season and look forward to continuing their aggressive community program in 2008/09!
